Compensation for 14 Killed in Bengal Panchayat Polls


It has been stated by the state govt that the families of the people who were killed in political violence during the latest Panchayat polls will get compensation of Rs 2 lakh each.
Secretariat sources quoting the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that this compensation will be given to each of families of the 14 individuals killed during the polls.
Moreover, the family of late Rajkumar Roy, a presiding officer of the May 14 polls will be given a compensation of 5 lakhs, along with a job to Roy’s widow.

While his family had lodged a police complaint that he was murdered and did not commit suicide, official sources said he was run over by a train.

The Chief Minister said on Thursday that the govt. will provide compensation for each of the families of those who were “martyred” during the polls.
She has also said that 10 among the 14 who died belonged to her own party
